Unadilla Township Regular Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m. Pledge to flag. Present: Walker, Topping, Mahler, Cowan. Absent: Weiland. Motion Walker support Cowan to approve the agenda. Motion Walker support Cowan to approve the minutes of June 11 correcting two typos and June 9th as presented. Carried. Motion Mahler support Cowan to approve bills as presented. Topping to call attorney regarding meeting on payment of bills. Carried. Call to public: none. Planning Report by Topping. Police Report by Chief Cook, thanked Pinckney village police and Putnam fire for their help on the 4th of July. MCOLES will be doing a records audit soon. Fire Report by Chief Schroeder, 4th went well, minor traffic difficulties, also thanked Stockbridge fire department for all their help. Recreation Report by Cowan, they plan to meet at Unadilla Park, meeting to be posted. Senior Report by Mahler, still room on the Frankenmuth trip, received a new member from the newsletter. Zoning Report, written available. Correspondence: Letter from Federal Aviation commending the Unadilla Police Dept. for their help in the aircraft accident. Unfinished Business: Lewis property, he has come in and filled out a land use permit to build a new home. Update on drain issues, still working on easements. New Business: Motion Walker support Topping to adopt the Michigan Community Resolution of Intent for participating in the National Flood Insurance Program, pending assurances from Livingston County Building dept. that residents may rebuild if their home is destroyed. Roll Vote: Ayes: Cowan, Mahler, Walker, Topping. Nay: none. Absent Weiland. Carried. Motion Walker support Topping to adopt the Community Resolution and Intergovernmental Agreement to Manage Floodplain Development for National Flood Insurance Program, pending assurances from Livingston County Building dept. that residents may rebuild if their home is destroyed. Roll Vote: Ayes: Cowan, Mahler, Walker, Topping. Nay: none. Absent Weiland. Carried. Motion Walker support Cowan to adopt Ordinance addressing floodplain Management Provisions of the State Construction Code, pending assurances from Livingston County Building dept. that residents may rebuild if their home is destroyed. Roll Vote: Ayes: Cowan, Mahler, Walker, Topping. Nay: none. Absent Weiland. Carried. Motion Walker support Cowan to adopt Community Resolution to manage floodplain Development for the National Flood Insurance Program, pending assurances from Livingston County Building dept. that residents may rebuild if their home is destroyed. Roll Vote: Ayes: Cowan, Mahler, Walker, Topping. Nay: none. Absent Weiland. Carried. Motion Walker support Mahler to hire new part-time police officer Mark Jensen. Carried. Motion Mahler support Topping to approve the new police department fee schedule as presented. Carried. Motion Walker support Cowan to install electric service to Unadilla Park, discussion on costs; Schroeder volunteered to speak to Mr. Bates to see if he would volunteer his time and the township just pay actual expense. Discussed costs would be for lock box and materials it was thought not more than $500.00. Carried. Motion Cowan support Mahler to authorize the Supervisor to negotiate chip and seal contract with the road commission for various roads, pending all board members see contract prior to signing and initial their approval. Carried. Motion Walker support Mahler to approve the S.E. Land Conservancy Settlement, pending assessor check parcel numbers for accuracy. Carried. Final Call to Public: Monica thanked the Police Department for al their help in finding her father who got lost. They were extremely helpful.
