Unadilla Township Regular Meeting Minutes

August 14, 2008

 

Meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m.  Pledge to flag.  Present: Peterson, Topping, Mahler, Krueger, Cowan.  Absent: None.  Motion Mahler support Krueger to approve the agenda as amended.  Carried.  Motion Krueger support Peterson to approve consent agenda, including payment of bills and minutes of July 10,2008.  Carried.  Call to Public: None.  Planning Report by Topping, Master Plan open house set for Saturday Sept 13, 2008 and following Tuesday, notices will be in paper and posted around town. Police Report by Chief Cook, Mr. Richmond has completed his clean up of property and is now in compliance.  Firearm qualifications are complete.  Kopacz year anniversary up soon, Chief requests we extend probation by 6 months.  Motion Peterson support Krueger to extend 6 months.  Carried.  Fire Report by Chief Schroeder, 2 applications received, 2 are in MFR class now.  They will be doing driving training at Pky High School a truck rodeo.  Fire Prevention day will be Oct 5 from 1 to 4.  Recreation report by Cowan, new member volunteer Monica, her son has offered to install horseshoe pit at Unadilla Park, Daniel Mahler working on backstop.  Picnic tables and grill donated by Lions Club are now in place.  The sign will cost about $130.00 and will say Unadilla Community Park.  Waste Management report by Cowan, they are having a hazardous waste day on Oct 18th, free to County residents.  Discussion on battery collection program. Senior Program report by Mahler, Doug Johnson is coordinating and planning a golf outing Sept. 1 at the Waterloo Golf course, with proceeds to be donated to the senior program.  Donations or hole sponsors may contact Bonnie and she will forward the information.  The money is spent toward senior trips and entertainment.  Zoning Report available.  Discussion of sale of old police car.  Sealed bids for now and if we don’t get what we feel it’s worth try Ebay. Motion Mahler support Krueger to purchase new police car, using transferred money from general fund and drug forfeiture money to supplement cost, proposal presented by Chief.  Carried.  Motion Peterson support Topping to change dog kennel definition, only removing last sentence from original definition.  Opposed Cowan.  Carried.  Motion Cowan support Mahler to approve solicitor ordinance as amended.  Opposed Peterson, Krueger.  Carried.  Treasurer reports that some funds are not FDIC insured as we have used several local banks, auditor requested she make board aware.  She will be meeting with auditor this month to possibly discuss options.  Final Call to Public:  L. Walker requested lock box at twp, explained that we already have one.  Motion Krueger support Mahler to adjourn at 7:41 p.m.  Carried.
