If you are interested in applying for a position, applications are accepted at any time and are retained for a period of one year (a downloadable application is found at the bottom of this page).  When submitting an application, please include a letter of interest and a resume.  The police department staffs the following positions:  Full-time police officer, part-time police officer, reserve police officer.  Applicants must be willing to meet the following requirements:

• Be of good moral character
• Be in good health
• Be willing to submit to drug testing
• Be willing to submit to a medical examination
• Be willing to submit to and pass a police background investigation
• Be a high school graduate or its equivalent
• Have a good driving record
• Have no criminal history
• Possess a valid Michigan operator license
• Be willing to work a minimum of sixteen hours per month
• Be willing to attend department meetings
• Be willing to work special events
• Be MCOLES certified or certifiable (police officer) or be willing to complete the Reserve Officer Training Academy at Schoolcraft College (or other Department and MCOLES approved reserve officer training program and certification)
• Be willing to pay for the Reserve Officer Training Academy (reserve police officer)
• Be willing to purchase equipment, firearm, and leather gear
• Must pass oral board interview
• Be a resident of Livingston County or a resident of a county adjacent to Livingston County (reserve police officer)
• Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment
